Man Arrested After Suspected of Dealing Crack Cocaine

The following arrest was reported by the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Charles Dotson, 27, of 2617 Third Ave, Richmond, Va., was arrested on Thursday around 1:43 p.m. for a warrant out of the Superior Court, on an original charge of drug possession and resisting arrest out of the Newport Police Department. 

Over the past month, members of the vice unit have been conducting an investigation involving Dotson selling crack cocaine from 43 Chapel Terrace, said police.

Police made a controlled purchase from Dotson and obtained a court authorized search warrant for 43 Chapel Terrace. Police entered and found an unloaded silver and black Taurus Revolver hand gun, gun cases and common target practice items such as rounds, ear, eye protection.
