The first person in the country to be charged with defrauding the federal Paycheck Protection Program will serve more than four years in prison. David Adler Staveley, who conspired with a Rhode Island man to fraudulently apply for coronavirus relief funds, faked suicide before his arrest.

Today, he was sentenced to serve 56 months in federal prison.
