Newport: Dongfeng Takes Lead In Volvo Ocean Race's Leg 8
The new ETA for the lead boats is 2 a.m. Tuesday to mid-morning. Vestas at last check was in fourth.

NEWPORT, RI — Fort Adams State Park in Newport is the Volvo Ocean Race's only North American stopover. The first boats are expected to arrive Tuesday, possibly as early as 1:30 a.m.
Dongfeng, which had been in second place, has taken the lead from Team Brunel. Vestas 11th Hour Racing had slipped back to fifth place behind MAPFRE and Turn the Tide on Plastic. But by afternoon, it rebounded and took over fourth place. Two local sailors are on Vestas. Click here to see the live tracker.
Admission to the racing village at Fort Adams is free. The state park is at 90 Fort Adams Drive, Newport, 02840. The racing village opens Tuesday. There is no overnight parking at the fort.
