Newport's Daffodil Days Begins with Perfect Weather
Bright yellow sun in the sky, explosions of yellow daffodils on the ground. Newport Daffodil Days couldn't start any better.
NEWPORT, RI—Early spring in Newport is extra special—and yellow—thanks to an army of volunteers and civic minded Newporters who have been planting daffodils everywhere for years with the goal of a million daffodils in the ground. A Daffodillion.
This year, Daffodil Days is being greeted with incredible weather. And the Daffodillion Project is now at about the halfway point to goal with nearly 500,000 bulbs planted so far over nine years, which means the city is more yellow than ever for the start of the eight-day festival beginning Saturday April 16.
Events include a chance to draw the 50,000 daffodils blooming on the Cliff Walk, a Daffy Doggy parade, ceremonial events, food, family fun and more.
