Obituary: Edward Charles Cassese, 76

Edward Charles Cassese, 76, of Hoppin Road, Newport, RI passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Newport Hospital.

Born on March 17, 1940 in Newport, RI, he was the son of the late Emidio Charles and Antoinette (Pepe) Cassese.

Mr. Cassese was a graduate of Rogers High School. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and his Master’s Degree in Physics from Providence College. Edward also attended Boston working toward his Ph.D where he was also a teacher and instructor. He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Newport and was an avid reader, and sports enthusiast.

He is survived by his brother, Gerald R. “Jerry” Cassese of Newport, RI.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 2, 2016 from 4:00-7:00 PM in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 9:00 AM from Memorial Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph's Church, Broadway at Mann Avenue, Newport, RI.

Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery, 465 Browns Lane, Middletown, RI.
