Newport Police: Man Sought In Alleged Stabbing Turned Himself In

An argument at the Broadway convenience store left one injured, police said.

NEWPORT, RI--Edward E. Kettner, 35, the man sought in connection with a stabbing Sunday at the Cumberland Farms on Broadway, has surrendered to police. Lt. Frank Rosa said Kettner turned himself in around 8:30 Monday night.

He was wanted for an incident that happened around 1:35 a.m. Sunday at the 125 Broadway store. The victim, a 28-year-old man, was treated for a cut at Newport Hospital and released.

Police said the two men were in a "disagreement" when Kettner allegedly stabbed the victim. Police obtained an arrest warrant charging Kettner with Felony Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.
