It's been 83 years since the Great Hurricane of 1938 slammed Rhode Island, leaving the state devastated. Hundreds of people died, and the trail of destruction included boats, houses, cars and more across the state. Downtown Providence, meanwhile, was buried under 20 feet of water, due to unprecedented storm surge.
