Rogers High Student Is Collecting Awards
Owen Martin, of Newport, is among 630 semifinalists in the 2018 U.S. Presidential Scholarship Program. He also is a National Merit Scholar.

NEWPORT, RI – Owen Martin, a senior at Rogers High, has won a National Merit Scholarship. He is one of eight Rhode Islanders being recognized for academic achievement. The awards were announced today. Owen, who is bound for Harvard next year, also is in the running for another prestigious award. He has been named a semifinalist in the 2018 U.S. Presidential Scholarship Program.
According to the press release, "inclusion in the program, which is now in its 54th year, is one of the highest honors bestowed upon graduating high school seniors. Scholars are selected on the basis of superior academic and artistic achievements, leadership qualities, strong character and involvement in the community and school activities."
