Tall Ship 'NRP Sagres III' At Fort Adams
The Portuguese Navy owns the ship which was built by Germany during World War II. The commander will be at Brenton Park on Wednesday.

NEWPORT, RI -- The NRP Sagres is visiting Fort Adams and will be open for tours on Wednesday, according to Joe Diaz, at the Fort Adams Trust. Wednesday's schedule has not yet been set.
The ship is here partly to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Portuguese Memorial at Brenton State Park. The monument is dedicated to Portuguese explorers and navigators, such as Vasco da Gama and Ferdinand Magellan. A wreath-laying ceremony is set for 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the monument.
The Sagres was built in Germany and is the sister ship to the Coast Guard's "Eagle," which visited Fort Adams last month for the Volvo Ocean Race.
