Friday Five: Pothier Trucks, Memorial Day, Almost, ME Tonight, Auction

The long weekend is almost here - check out some things to know:

 

Trucks at Pothier - Pothier Elementary is is hosting a Touch A Truck event June 1 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Vehicles present will include a Woonsocket Fire Truck, Recycling Truck, Monroe Dairy Truck, Stanley Tree Service Cherry Picker and Crane, Pet Big Rig, Dump Truck, RIPTA Bus, Durham School Bus and some Motorcycles and Woonsocket Police Bike Patrol.

Crafters and Vendors Include: While you Sleep I Crochet, Humming Bird Boutique, Sifuente's Fairies in a Bottle, Tupperware, Perfectly Posh, Clever Containers, 31 Gifts, Origami Owl, Avon, Tillybird's Nest, RI Doodlebug Designs, Scentsy, Spirit Bracelets, Love Green Envy, Blue Dragonfly, Rhythmic Pottery, It Wraps Body Wraps, and Wild Tree Herbs.

Food and craft vendors will also attend, and there will also be a raffle.

Tickets to the event are $3 each, or a Family 4 Pack for $10. All Purchased Tickets include 1 chance in our Door Prize Drawing for a $100 Visa Gift Card.

Auction for the Arts - An original painting by Artist T.L. Lange (1965 - 2002) is among the items up for bid at this year's Auction for the Arts on May 30th. This painting is 26" x 39", mixed media, and is signed by the artist. It is valued at $2,800. Come out and bid on this original painting, and other items, with the proceeds benefitting Stadium Theatre.

Memorial Day Parade - Mayor Leo T. Fontaine along with The United Veteran’s Council (UVC) of Woonsocket have announced the annual Memorial Day Parade to be held on Monday, May 27. All veterans and participants should meet in the parking lot behind the (former Blockbuster Video) at 9 a.m. The parade will kick off promptly at 10 a.m. from the corner of Cumberland & Clinton Street and disperse at Market Square. 

The Grand Marshal for this year’s parade will be Veteran of the Year Ernest Boisvert. Parade participants to include local dignitaries, the Woonsocket High School Band, the Woosnsocket Middle School Band, Woonsocket Fire Department Honor Guard, Woonsocket Police Department Honor Guard, Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Cub Scouts Pack # 2 and the Woonsocket ROTC.  

The parade will be held rain or shine. If you and or your organization would like to participate in the parade as we honor past, present and future veterans please contact Linda Plays at 767-9205.

Holiday trash schedule - In observance of Memorial Day the Woonsocket Recycle Facility will be closed on Saturday, May 25 and Monday May 27. Residents are reminded that curbside pick-up of trash, recycling and yard waste from May 27to May 31 will be delayed by one day.
