Frightened Dog Saved from Dark Tunnel by Woonsocket Cop
Officer Joseph Brazil of the Woonsocket Police Department didn't hesitate to save the dog, though he might have ended up with cold feet.

WOONSOCKET, RI—When a skittish Yorkshire terrier ended up deep in a concrete tunnel, Officer Joseph Brazil didn't hesitate, though he likely got cold feet.
Brazil is being credited for rescuing the soaked and scared pup on Saturday after it was frightened by a passing car and ended up in the tunnel that a brook flows through.
Resident Peggy Edwards shared a photo of Brazil emerging from the tunnel carrying the wet dog out from the dark tunnel on Facebook and said she wanted to share the photo with everyone she could.

"He went in without hesitation and came out with a very wet, scared little dog. Great guy, Lucky dog. We are very happy he was able to save the little gal," Edwards said.
Edwards said the little dog was running free when ti got scared and ran into the tunnel. She was stuck about 20- to 25-feet in the tunnel and "was clinging to the side," Edwards said. "We tried to help but were afraid of scaring her further in."

Police and firefighters were called, which brought Brazil to the scene.
On a chilly day, Brazil didn't think twice before rolling up his pant legs, removing his shoes and socks and venturing into the dark tunnel.
"With all the negatives people post and say about police, I thought we should see a positive moment. It may not seem like much to most people but it meant a lot to us and to that scared little dog, it made a world of difference as certain death was at the end of that tunnel," Edwards said.
