Woonsocket Police have shut down sections of Fairmount Street and Second Avenue as National Grid works to assess and repair a gas leak. Fairmount Street from First Avenue to Third Avenue as well as Second Avenue from Chestnut to Short Streets are closed due to the leak. Woonsocket Police Det. Jamie Paone said there is no immediate word on the cause of the leak, or an estimate on the time to repair it. Woonsocket Patch will update this story as more information becomes available.
