Officers Arrest Man on Railroad Tracks for Amphetamine Possession, Illegal Knife

The following information was provided by the Woonsocket Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

 

On June 4, Officer Jesse Nunnemacher spotted two men walking on the railroad tracks between Railroad Street and River Street at about 1:13 a.m., finding one of them with amphetamines and an illegal knife, and arrested him.

Nunnemacher and Sgt. John Raymond spoke with the men, later identified as Jay Alvarez, 20 and Anthony Marino, 19, of 34 Sixth Ave., Woonsocket. Each agreed to a search, according to the officer's report.

Alvarez was carrying about eight grams of marijuana, within the one-ounce limit for possession of marijuana, according to the report. Nunnemacher issued him a citation for possession of the drug.

Marino was carrying 20 milligrams of amphetamine pills and a knife measuring at three and an eigth inches. Officer Craig Thompson arrested him, handcuffing him and Officer Matthew Bourgoin transported him to Woonsocket Police Headquarters.

Marino was chared with possession of amphetamines, a felony, and posession of an illegal weapon.
