Road Patch Work Backing Up Clinton Street Traffic Finished

One-day work put permanent patch, new section of sidewalk in near WPD.

If you found yourself in unusually slow Clinton Street traffic just after the Pond Street intersection yesterday, there's good news - the construction is done.

Woonsocket Police Public Information Officer Det. Jamie Paone said the one-day job was done by Ricci, a private contractor, which was putting a permanent patch over a water line repair done over the winter.

Mike Debroisse at the Woonsocket Engineering Department said the winter work was to upgrade water lines to the CVS building at 245 Social St., but the lines were on the Clinton Street side. Debroisse said a similar job will have to be done on Clinton Street sometime within the next two weeks, depending on the schedule of the contractor involved.

During the construction, workers replaced a small 3-foot section of pavement on Clinton Street, and also replaced a 4-foot section of the sidewalk on the left-hand side of the one-way street.
