Strong Thunderstorms Moving Toward Woonsocket, Flood Advisory Issued

Strong thunderstorms are moving into the greater Providence area near Woonsocket, and the National Weather Service has a Flood Watch in effect for the city through 6 p.m. today.  

A Flood Advisory is in effect for urban and small stream flooding until 11:30 a.m., and a Flash Flood Watch is in effect until 6 p.m.  

Storms expected later today could produce one or two inches of rainfall in an hour or less. Storms are likely between 3 and 5 p.m., then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 5 p.m.  

Several of these storms over the same area could cause flash flooding, according to the National Weather Service.
