Wednesday Five: Fireworks Tonight, Pets, Rubbish Schedule, Summer School, Lilo Lost


Fireworks tonight! - Fireworks will go off tonight at WWII Memorial Park, 9:15 p.m. The Mayor's office advises bringing chairs and blankets. The evening begins at 6 p.m. with entertainment by local favorite and Master of Ceremonies Jeff Gamache, crooning patriotic favorites. At 7:30 p.m. The Kickin’ Brass Band, a 10 piece brass band takes over to wow the crowd. Atlas Fireworks will end the evening with their pyrotechnics. Protect your pets
 - More pets go missing on July 4 than any other day of the year, according to Petfinder.com Check out their tips to keep your pet safe. Also, the ASPCA has listed a number of general Fourth of July pet safety tips. Some of their advice included keeping your pet on their normal diet, and keeping them away from adult beverages, which can make them intoxicated, weak and possibly put them in a coma.

Rubbish, Recycling Schedule - The Woonsocket Material Recycle Facility located at 943 River St., Woonsocket will be closed Thursday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. Residents on the following collection days will be delayed by one day: Thursday and Friday.

Summer School - The Connecting for Children & Families 8th Grade Transition Program is still enrolling 8th graders in need of summer school. The program will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning Monday July 8 and concluding on Friday Aug. 16 at the Woonsocket Middle School. The cost is only $75 and payment plans can be can be arranged. Lost dog - Lilo (See photo) went missing on Tuesday in the area of Verdun Street and Mount St. Charles Street. The dog's family would appreciate any information you might have on the pooch's whereabouts. Call 401-649-5804 or 401-516-7936.
