Woonsocket Police Arrest Man For Scaling Fire Escape, Breaking into Ex-Girlfriend's Apartment

The following arrest information was provided by the Woonsocket Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Three Woonsocket Policemen arrived at a Dulude Avenue apartment May 25 at about 5 a.m. for a report of an unwanted person, arresting Jarred Fernandez, 20, who had scaled a fire escape and climbed through his ex-girlfriend's window in an attempt to convince her to have sex with him.

The woman, who had called police to the scene, said she believed Fernandez had also broken the apartment's door to the fire escape in his attempt to enter, according to Officer Patrick Greeno's report. She told Greeno a noise had woken her up, and when she looked outside her window she saw Fernandez removing her air conditioner so he could climb inside the window. Once inside, she said, Fernandez pleaded with her to have sex.

Greeno immediately handcuffed Fernandez, who appeared highly intoxicated, according to his report, and attempted to pull away from the officer.

The woman called friends, who showed up and attempted to convince Fernandez to leave, she said, but he wouldn't listen, so she called police.

Greeno arrested Fernandez, charging him with domestic breaking and entering, a felony.

The woman also pointed out a bag of marijuana Fernandez had carried into the apartment with him, less than an ounce, for which he was issued a violation.
