- Nicole Poitras of WLNE-TV reports a gray and white pit bull was found tied to a tree near train tracks in the heat last week. The dog's owner, Melvin Shaw, 41, of Woonsocket, now faces animal cruelty charges. (WLNE-TV)
- Emily Walsh of Business Insider reports CVS is running out of at-home COVID-19 tests amid rising demand as the delta variant spreads across the country. The surge in demand has led the Woonsocket-based giant to limit the number of at-home tests customers can buy: either six online or four in-store. (Business Insider)
- Patch reports that effective Wednesday, Sept. 1, the Woonsocket Police Department will resume VIN verifications for city residents. The verifications will be performed Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. (Patch)
- Sandy Seoane of NRI Now reports Brittany Mitchell, 27, of Woonsocket was arrested earlier this month after police said she attacked her ex-boyfriend in a parking lot while holding a baby, then later smashed his car with a baseball bat. Mitchell faces charges of felony cruelty or neglect, domestic violence, domestic vandalism and disorderly conduct. (NRI NOW)
- Mike Anthony of CT Insider catches up with three Pincince brothers — Jon, Chris and Tom — who earned numerous trophies in Woonsocket during the 1990s playing baseball, basketball and football.
