Yard Waste Pickup in Woonsocket has Resumed

Woonsocket residents can once again put yard waste on the curb for free pickup.

WOONSOCKET, RI—Yard waste pickup for Woonsocket residents has resumed.

Residents are encouraged to place yard waste in compost bags or in closed barrels with lids and clearly marked "yard waste" on the curb by 7 a.m. on collection day.

Yard waste includes grass clippings, small branches and weeds.

The service, which began April 11, will run through June 18.

The drop-off site in Blackstone, MA, off Canal Street (North Smithfield) will be open Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturdays 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., starting April 13th for those residents having the appropriate yard waste sticker; all residential properties in the City of Woonsocket are included in the yard waste drop-off program. Stickers (GRAY for 2016) can be obtained at City Hall in the Department of Public Works, Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at a cost of $25.00. Proper identification and vehicle registration are required.

All yard waste stickers issued prior to January 2016 have expired.

Commercial vehicle registrations are excluded from this program.

This program is for yard waste only; it is illegal to combine yard waste and household waste.
