Milwaukee Hero: Helping People Rebuild Their Lives After Trauma
We all know someone who's making a difference. Here's one local resident who is having an impact in Milwaukee.

MILWAUKEE, WI — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.
This submission comes from Patrick McSweeney who nominated Debbie Lassiter of Milwaukee.
Local hero’s full name
Debbie Lassiter.
Local hero’s home state
Wisconsin.
Local hero’s Patch
Milwaukee.
How do you know the local hero?
I have worked with her.
What does the local hero do?
Debbie is the co-founder and CEO of Convergence Resource Center, a nonprofit helping women rebuild their lives after trauma from human trafficking or incarceration.
Why do you believe the local hero should be recognized or honored?
I would love to see a special grant or monetary award given to Debbie and Convergence Resource Center to that they can help improve and change the lives of more women. Convergence is a small, faith-based nonprofit that runs on a shoestring budget and much prayer.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the local hero?
Debbie is selfless. She will go (and has gone) without pay if it means her employees and the bills of the organization are paid.
Thank you for all you do, Debbie!
