MILWAUKEE WI - The Milwaukee folk music community will gather to remember mentor, friend and songwriter Larry Penn in a tribute concert on Sunday, December 7, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The event will take place at Anodyne Coffee Roasters, 224 W. Bruce Street.
“We miss Larry,” said event director Marc Revenson, who will emcee the concert. “We lost him in October of 2014, and his wife Pat just two months later. We’re committed to keeping Larry’s music alive and it’s wonderful how his friends have responded to this annual event.”
Proceeds from concert will directly support the Larry Penn Memorial Fund, which will keep his website active, and his music catalog in print and available online.
“It’s a huge project,” said Revenson, better know as “Li’l Rev” in music circles. “Larry’s catalog is vast. We’re keeping his web page active, and putting his songs up on YouTube, so they’ll be accessible for years to come.”
The program will feature Milwaukee musicians and folk artists Three On the Deck, Marc “Li’l Rev” Revenson, Chicago’s Mark Dvorak, Patty Stevenson & Craig Siemsen as well as Tom and Barb Weber..
“We want to keep it going,” said Revenson. “We want to keep it an annual event and we’re working right now on developing several touring performances throughout the year.”
General admission to the concert is $10. Further donations to the Larry Penn Memorial Fund will be accepted. Beverages and light snacks available. For more information on the event contact Marc Revenson at lilrev@lilrev.com. Visit Anodyne Coffee Roasters online at www.anodynecoffee.com.
