24-Year-Old Arraigned in Connection With Fatal Hit and Run
Judge Dominic Paratore ordered the bail set at $10,000 with the condition that the defendant does not drive.

MALDEN, MA - A 24-year-old Saugus man was arraigned on Monday in Malden District Court on charges in connection with a fatal hit and run on Dec. 27 in the city.
Amar Miletic, of Saugus, was arraigned on charges of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident causing personal injury and death, and a crosswalk violation, according to Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan and Malden Chief of Police Kevin Molis.
“In this case the defendant allegedly left the scene after fatally injuring 71-year-old Yaai Chen as she made her way across the street in the crosswalk,,” said District Attorney Ryan in a statement. “Our thoughts remain with the family as they grieve the loss of Ms. Chen.”

Judge Dominic Paratore ordered the bail set at $10,000 with the condition that the defendant does not drive. The next scheduled hearing in this case is March 3.
These charges are allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
