MALDEN, MA — The Dockside Malden location, home to thousands of Boston-area families looking for a good meal for three decades, announced it's time has come to an end.

Dockside founder and president Jack Urbaczewski said on Facebook the restaurant at 229 Centre St. will serve its last meal Sunday, March 20. The remaining food will be donated to local food shelters.

The Dockside location at 1099 Main St. in Wakefield will remain open.

"To say the least, what a run," Urbaczewski said.

Ownership will replace the Malden Dockside with the House of Smoke, a BBQ restaurant run by Carlos Magalhaes from Fuel America. That change will happen "in the near future," Urbaczewski said.

The Dockside has served more than 4,000 customers a week for the past 30 years, according to Urbaczewski.

"I am beyond grateful for you, our loyal guests and your support over the years," Urbaczewski said. "It is so nice to see some of you who would visit 20-25 years ago with your children, now stopping in with your grandkids. Thank you for making us a part of your family."
