Massachusetts’ State Education Agency DESE Moving Out Of Malden
The DESE will be moving from Malden at the end of the calendar year.

MALDEN, MA – The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) will move out of its Malden headquarters and relocate to Everett.
Tracy O’Connell Novick, a Worcester School Committee member who also works for Massachusetts Association of School Committees – the state’s school committee association – said over Twitter that the DESE will be moving from 75 Pleasant Street in Malden to 135 Santilli Highway in Everett.
The move is expected to take place by January 1, 2024, DESE spokesperson Jacqueline Reis said in an email statement.

Reis said the state agency is moving because their current lease reached its 15-year term and ends at the end of December 2023.
"State law and regulations require rebidding of leased space, and 135 Santilli Hwy. submitted the winning proposal," Reis wrote in the email.

Reis also said the new DESE space will be sharing space with other departments, such as some staff from the Executive Office of Education, the Department of Higher Education’s Office of Student Financial Assistance, and a small number of people from the Executive Office of Technology Services and Security.
She added that the current DESE building in Malden already houses some staff members from each of those offices.
