Utility Worker Rescues Somerville Resident From Burning Building
The Eversource utility worker reportedly used a bucket truck to rescue the woman from the massive blaze.
SOMERVILLE, MA — Firefighters on Monday battled a three-alarm blaze at a multi-family home on 47 Marion St. Fire Chief Charles Breen credited a quick-thinking Eversource utility worker for using a bucket truck to rescue a female resident from the second floor of the burning home.
The department arrived on the scene just before 1 p.m. on Monday, and the fire was knocked down just before 2:30 p.m. Heavy smoke and flames reportedly emanated from the two-story, 2,000-square-foot home. The Cambridge Fire Department assisted in the response effort.
The woman was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation, and no other injuries were reported.
