Somerville Roadway Undergoing Repavement

The highly trafficked street will be closed during business hours for a day next week.

SOMERVILLE, MA — An important roadway will be closed for a time on Monday to allow for a paving project.

Somerville Avenue between Lowell Street and Park Street will be closed to traffic in both directions on Monday, Nov. 24 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The portion of road that is being repaved stretches between Park Street and Beech Street, and the city recommends residents who need to use their vehicles during the closed hours to relocate them before the closure, as they will not be able to be accessed while the work is ongoing.

Eastbound traffic toward Union Square will be directed left on Lowell Street, right on Summer Street, and right on School Street to return to Somerville Avenue, while
Westbound traffic toward Porter Square will be directed left and right to return to Somerville Avenue. Traffic will remain open to emergency vehicles, walking pedestrians, and MBTA buses.
