Somerville Youth Therapist Recognized With State Award

The senior therapeutic manager provides his services for those at the Home for Little Wanderers.

SOMERVILLE, MA — A local was recently recognized statewide for his work as a senior therapeutic manager at the Home for Little Wanderers.

Dimitris Niflis received the Excellence in Best Practices Award from the Association for Behavioral Healthcare at the nonprofit’s annual awards.

“Niflis provides structured, strength-based support services to children and adolescents who are at-risk, abused, or neglected to address daily living, social, and communications needs,” the ABH said in a statement.

Niflis uses methods such as cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, and Sensory Motor Arousal Regulation Treatment to assist those described as having intense need. According to the ABH, many of his patients have their cases closed and make a full recovery.

The Home for Little Wanderers is headquartered in Boston and has other locations throughout Greater Boston. Its purpose is to help children and families who have experienced trauma.

The Association for Behavioral Healthcare represents more than 80 organizations that are the primary providers of community-based behavioral healthcare in Massachusetts, serving more than 80,000 individuals daily.
