Help Shape the Way Watertown Will Look in the Future

Planning for the Watertown Comprehensive Plan begins on Thursday night with a meeting and workshop.

 

This week, Watertown residents have the chance to share what their vision for how they would like the town to look in the future at the Comprehensive Plan Meeting and Workshop.

The meeting, Thursday night March 21 at 7 p.m. at Watertown Middle School, will be the kick off for creating the plan, which will in corporate a wide range of factors, said Gideon Schreiber, a senior planner with the Watertown Planning Department.

"It will define a vision for our town - land use, housing, transportation, economic development, recreation," Schreiber said. "It's a really exciting opportunity."

The town has had other planning studies and documents, but not one that incorporates all the areas that will be in the Comprehensive Plan. Town officials want to get input from the people of Watertown to help create the plan.

"We want to see what people envision for the future of Watertown," Schreiber said.

Consultants VHB, who have been hired by the town for the project, have created a Website for the Comprehensive Plan to keep residents up to date on the latest with the plan. The Website can be found here: http://www.vhb.com/watertowncompplan

The meeting had been scheduled for March 7, but officials postponed it due to the snowstorm that hit Watertown that day.
