Berkeley Police Still Investigating Early Morning Tractor Trailer Fire On Route 9

Vehicle was fully engulfed in flames when police arrived, police chief says.

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - The Ocean County Fire Marshal's Office and the Berkeley fire official are investigating the cause of a blaze that fully engulfed a tractor trailer on Route 9 recently, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.

Sergeants Alison Wray and John Legg and Patrolmen Michael Bulwinski and Ryan Wahl responded to Richmark Contracting Inc. at 170 Route 9 at 1:40 a.m. on Oct. 10 on a report of a vehicle fire, the chief said.

Members of the Bayville Volunteer Fire Company responded and put out the fire. There were no occupants in the trailer.

The fire is under investigation by the Ocean County Fire Marshal's Office, Berkeley Fire Official Jack Wiegartner and Berkeley Detective Michael Tier, DiMichele said.
