Expect Traffic Delays Friday Due To Berkeley Sergeant's Funeral
Popular police officer Alison J. Wray died suddenly while on duty last Friday

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Motorists should expect traffic delays in the Mule Road and Route 9 areas as family and friends pay their respects to Sgt. Alison J. Wray, who died of a stroke while on duty on Nov. 3.
Heavy traffic is expected from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Mule Road in Berkeley Township and Toms River Township and from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Route 9 in Bayville to the Garden State Parkway entrance in South Toms River, Detective Sgt. Peter La Rocca said.
"Other roads that will experience heavy traffic and delays will be Pinewald-Keswick Road in Berkeley, Sylvan Lakes Boulevard in Berkeley, in addition to various side streets within the Sylvan Lakes neighborhood," he said. "Please be aware of these areas and plan an alternate route. We apologize for the delays and we greatly thank you for your support throughout these past couple of days."

Visitation was held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, 26 Mule Road, Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 11 a.m. on Friday at St. Barnabas R. C. Church, Bayville. Burial will follow at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood.
Sergeant Wray began her career with Berkeley Township in 2008 and later graduated from the Atlantic County Police Academy. Wray began in the patrol division and moved up the ranks quickly. She was promoted to sergeant in 2015.

"Sergeant Wray was known for her intelligence, compassion and dedication to her officers whom she considered family," Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.
She is survived by her fiancée, Sgt. Henry Ganska of the Berkeley Township Police Department, their two children Harrison, age 2 and Henry, age 4. Sergeant Wray is also survived by her two stepchildren, Cole age 11 and Reagan, age 15.
