Island Beach State Park Closes Due To ‘Severe’ Beach Erosion
The park will reopen Thursday at 7 a.m., though mobile sport fishing access will remain closed until further notice.

ISLAND BEACH STATE PARK, NJ — Island Beach State Park will close at 5:30 p.m. due to severe beach erosion.
The park announced they will reopen Thursday at 7 a.m., though mobile sport fishing access will remain closed until further notice.
Park officials said people are welcome to walk onto the beach to fish.

Officials evaluated the conditions of the beach Wednesday after the 11:26 a.m. high tide and removed sand from accessways.
The nor'easter on Monday brought 50 mph winds to the park. Due to the battered terrain, mobile sport fishing vehicle access was closed on Wednesday.
