John A. Siegrist, World War II Normandy Invasion Vet, Dies At 92

Services will be held on Sunday and Monday.

John A. Siegrist of the Silver Ridge Park West section of Berkeley Township, died at home on Saturday Nov. 18, 2017. He was 92.

The U.S. World War II Navy veteran served in the Navy Armed Guard Unit and participated in the Normandy Invasion.

Born in Jersey City, John lived in Madison before moving to Berkeley Township 10 years ago. John was owner of New Providence Disposal Company in New Providence for 22 years, until he retired in 1989.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Carmela (nee Tarantino); and his first cousins, Domenic Falcone, Marlene Franklin, Dr. Frank Franklin, and Rose Jacobs. He was also loved by his many nieces and nephews.

John was a parishioner of St. Maximilian Kolbe R.C. Church in Berkeley Twp. and was a member of the VFW Post 10185, in Berkeley Township, the Knights of Columbus of Livingston, N.J., and the Seaside Italian American Club.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 26 at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River, N.J. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 27 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe R.C. Church in Berkeley Twp. Burial will follow to the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, N.J.
