TOMS RIVER, NJ - The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office has received multiple reports of a phone scam circulating in Ocean County.

The latest scam involves a caller who says they are from Jersey Central Power & Light. Victims are told they they are behind in payments and will have their electrical service shut off, unless they pay immediately, he said.
But the dead giveaway is that the caller says payments of $500 must be made with Rite cards or Green cards. Credit cards will not be accepted. The caller tells victims to call 1-866-996-9725, ext. 3500 and ask for Lucas, Della Fave said.
