Seaside Police Charge Father And Son In Stabbing Incident

SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NJ - Seaside Heights police have charged a father and son in connection with the Franklin Avenue stabbing of a man over the weekend, Detective Steven Korman said.

Police responded to a call at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 9 about a fight involving knives. When they arrived, they found a Seaside Heights man with a stab wound to his left hip and torso area, Korman said.

The victim was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center in New Brunswick, where he remains in stable condition, he said.

Detective Christino Rentas arrested Richard L. Bryan, 45, Seaside Heights and his son, Richard E. Bryan, 26, Seaside Heights, both Franklin Avenue, and charged them with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon Korman said.

Richard Bryan was taken to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River and Richard L. Bryan was issued a summons and released.

"This incident was the result of a verbal altercation which occurred earlier in the day and continued at the time of the incident," Korman said.
