William L. Mackin, Korean War Veteran, Firefighter, Dies At 87
Services for Holiday City resident will be held on Wednesday and Thursday.

William L. Mackin, 87, of Holiday City South in Berkeley Township, passed away on Friday, Nov. 24, 2017. He was 87.
Born in Newark, he lived in Iselin before moving to Berkeley Township. William was a firefighter for the City of Newark for 27 years and retired in 1985.

He was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran, and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.
William was a parishioner of St. Maximilian Kolbe R.C. Church in Berkeley Township, and was a member of the VFW.

He was predeceased by his daughter Patricia. William is survived by his wife Dolores (nee Critchley), two daughtersm Nancy Schofield of Wyoming, DE and Kathleen Lapolla and her husband Charles of Manalapan, NJ, six grandchildren Colleen Lakatos, Megan Andrews, Cara Lapolla, Kristen Lapolla, Charles Lapolla, Elizabeth Schofield and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Boulevard, , Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at St. Maximilian Kolbe R.C Church, Berkeley Township. Burial to follow at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ.
