Farmingdale H.S.’s DECA Excels in State Competition

Three students will advance to international DECA competition in April.

Farmingdale High School’s DECA team recently competed and excelled in the New York State Competition held in Rochester, New York.

DECA is an international association that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management around the world. Multiple Farmingdale High School team members placed in the top-10 of their respective categories, including three students who will advance to the International DECA Competition in Anaheim, California in April.

Sarah Golshahra and Alexander Melton placed fourth in the Business Law and Ethics category and Nitasha Sharma earned third place in Professional Selling.

The following Farmingdale High School DECA team members additionally placed in the top-10 of their respective categories:

Abraham Makkawi (second place honors, Job Interview) Alexis Napoli (Marketing), Andie Floresta (Public Speaking), Andrea Lee (Business Services Marketing), Jasmine Rashid (Hospitality Services), Kaitlin Sutherland (Human Resources), Kenneth Connolly (Accounting Applications), Marykate Thomson (Hospitality Services), Michelle Fredericks (Professional Sales Hospitality and Tourism), Patrick Lively (Sports and Entertainment Marketing), Rebekka Sherry (Business Law and Ethics), Sal Sherman (Marketing) and Zhe Chen (Business Law and Ethics).

The Farmingdale School District congratulated all students on the DECA team on their outstanding achievements and wish Sarah, Alexander and Nitasha well in the International DECA Competition.
