Last Chance: Energy and Sustainability Conference

Farmingdale State hosting second international all-day conference Friday.

Farmingdale State College’s second International Energy and Sustainability Conference is "Renewables in Smart Grid Technology for a Sustainable Future." This all-day conference will be held on Friday, March 22 in Roosevelt Hall.

With the theme: "Renewables in Smart Grid Technology for a Sustainable Future." the Keynote speaker is Dr. Richard Perez, research professor at the University at Albany’s Atmospheric Sciences Research Center. He'll speak on “The Value of Solar: Does it compute or not?”

Farmingdale President Dr. Hubert Keen will welcome the more than 250 participants who are expected to register. Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone will provide opening remarks.

A panel which will discuss local and regional policies in promoting renewable technologies and energy conservation will feature Adrianne Espositio of Citizens Campaign for the Environment, Gordian Raacke of RELI, Sail Van Nostrand of LISEA/NYSEA, Valerie Strauss of Alliance for Clean Energy, and Guy Sliker of NYPA, as well as a representative from LIPA.

More than 30 vendors are expected to display their products. Throughout the day, attendees are invited to test drive electric vehicles.
