Watertown Girl's Hoops Takes Down Amesbury, Heading to Section Semis

The Raiders won their home game and will take on St. Mary's in the next round.

Watertown High School won a battle of Cinderella teams and kept their tale going for at least one more round of the MIAA Div. 3 North Section girls' basketball tournament.

The Raiders (12-10) beat Amesbury (11-11) 47-32 on Sunday in the WHS Gym in the section quarterfinals. Both squads came into the game after defeating higher seeded opponents in the first round, with 11th seed Watertown beating No. 6 Hamilton-Wenham and 14th seed Amesbury defeating No. 3 seed Excel.

Now Watertown, faces second seeded St. Mary's of Lynn (20-2) in the section semifinal. The game is at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Mystic Valley in Malden.
